Stuff the Bus Donation Drive: July 20th at Walmart in Algonquin
District 300’s annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive benefiting homeless students is scheduled for Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walmart located at 1410 S. Randall Road, Algonquin (adjacent to Algonquin Commons).
A District 300 bus will be stationed in the Walmart parking lot collecting donations and school supplies to support students in need who will attend District 300 schools in the fall.
During the Stuff the Bus event, community members are asked to donate school supplies, including: folders, loose leaf paper, 3x5 index cards, highlighters, markers, scissors, pens, pencils, pink erasers, bottles of glue, glue sticks, rulers, colored pencils, and 24 packs of crayons. The district is also seeking donations of food and personal care items including, bath soap, boxed or canned nonperishable foods, deodorant, diapers, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. The donations will be organized by district officials, placed inside individual backpacks, and distributed to students in need.
Community members who would like to help, but are unable to attend Stuff the Bus, may drop off donations at the District 300 Central Office front desk (2550 Harnish Drive, Algonquin) during summer hours (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) or send a check donation made out to “CUSD 300” and addressed to:
