    Registration is for Charleston County parents that have students who are: 

    • new to the district;
    • qualified to enroll in Pre-K (CD/Child Development)*;
    • enrolling in kindergarten for the first time (see exclusion ‘c’ below);
    • moving from one school to another (see exclusion ‘a’ below); or
    • approved for a Student Transfer.

    *Pre-K (CD/Child Development) registration will begin the week of June 15, 2020.

    Registration Exclusions:  

    1. This process does not include students moving from elementary to middle school or middle to high school. 
    2. If your child is returning to the same school, they do not need to be registered.
    3. Students currently enrolled in four-year-old kindergarten programs in the district should not register as “new students.” These students will receive 2020-2021 kindergarten information from their child’s school.

    Registering Your Child for a CCSD School

    Out of County Residents/Students: Please be advised, pursuant to CCSD Policy JFAB - Nonresident Students, JFAB - R (its Administrative Rule), Policy DFG - Tuition Income, and State law, any student residing outside of Charleston County is required to own property in their name, with tax assessed value of $300.00 or more, within Charleston County, in order to retain a seat they may be offered. Out of county students, except for those specifically exempted, will be required to pay tuition to attend a CCSD school. Proof of property ownership by an out of county student is due to the Office of General Counsel.

    If a parent fails to provide verifiable proof that the student owns property within Charleston County by the Board approved deadline of August 1, 2020, the student will lose the seat they may have been offered as of the day after August 1, 2020. There will be no recourse for reconsideration. The seat offered to an out of county student who fails to provide proof of property ownership will be offered to another student on the waiting list.

     

    New Students

    To register your child for a CCSD school:

    1. Gather the following documents required for registration.
      All required documentation and forms, including the notarized affidavit, must be emailed directly to schools.  Select this link for your school’s student data clerk and principal's email addresses to submit your required documentation.  Due to ongoing updates on social distancing restrictions, school offices will not be open to receive registration documents.

      1. Child's Legal Birth Certificate
      2. SC Certificate of Immunization
      3. Notarized Affidavit of Residency [For details, see Residency Verification Document Requirements (En Español)]
      4. One document for residence verification [For details, see Residency Verification Document Requirements (En Español)]
        • Signed and dated current lease
        • Most recent real property tax bill
        • Copy of the ratified contract for purchase with the date of closing
        • Copy of the ratified contract for construction
      5. One document for mail verification [For details, see Residency Verification Document Requirements (En Español)]
        • Electric or gas bill
        • Water bill
        • Phone bill (NOT cell phone)
        • Cable bill or internet bill
        • Car registration (NOT driver’s license)
        • Pay stub (must show employer’s name and current pay period, name and address of the parent/guardian)
        • Local, state, or federal agency correspondence that reflects the name and address of the parent/guardian (Social Security, Medicaid, DSS, IRS, court documents, etc.)
      6. Parent/Guardian Photo ID

      2. The fillable form registration process opened June 1, 2020. Access the appropriate registration form below to begin registering your child.

      3. To print a registration form to complete by hand, select the appropriate fillable form, and print it. Complete the form. Contact the school you are registering for to discuss next steps.

    Returning Students

    • If your child moves over the summer and will attend a different CCSD school next school year, you will need to register for that school. You will need your child’s Student ID number to complete this process. If you do not have the Student ID number, contact your child’s former CCSD school.     • If your child has accepted a magnet/charter seat, you will need to fill out an online registration through the portal. In your dashboard, click on your student name, then click the Registration Tab to register for a magnet/charter school. Click here to access the online Applications and Registration Portal.

      Only students accepted to attend a charter school through our School Choice application process will register through the portal.

    • If your child has an approved student transfer and was enrolled in a CCSD school during the 2019-2020 school year, complete a withdrawal form for the former school and register online for the new school. You will need your child’s Student ID number to complete the process. If you do not have the Student ID number, contact your child’s former CCSD school.     • If your child has an approved student transfer, did not attend a CCSD school during the 2019-2020 school year, and attended a CCSD school previously, register online for the new school. You will need your child’s Student ID number to complete the process. If you do not have the Student ID number, contact the last CCSD school your child attended.     • If your child is returning to his or her prior-year CCSD school, you do not need to register your child. If you need to update your child’s information online, use the Student Information Update process. You will need your child’s Student ID number to complete this process.     • If your child is transitioning to the next level (e.g., from elementary to middle school, from middle to high school), you do not need to register your child. If you need to update your child’s information online, use the Student Information Update process. You will need your child’s Student ID number to complete this process.
